Originally belonging to a Jain jeweller, the restoration of the building was carried out by the Ahmedabad Heritage Centre as part of the Indo-French Cooperation Project for revitalization of Ahmedabad. The building’s original picturesque plaster adornments have been maintained. The interiors of this beautiful 1920s building are charming and contemporary. Traditional elements co-exist with modern conveniences such as a wire-free environment.
The house is a ground plus two storeyed structure with a floor area of 325 sq. mts and it comes under the remarkable category as per the survey conducted in 2000-2001 by the Heritage Department in the walled city of Ahmedabad. It represents the typology and evolution of traditional havelis with a grand facade with elaborate stucco work and decorative pediment etc. |
