Benini, a performance artist and educator, used photographs, video projection, live music and elements from Kathak and physical theatre to comment on the thoughtless road widening exercise that led to destruction of heritage structures, including the wooden gate of the Pol, at Astodia a few months ago. |

FANAA – Sufi Soul - bouquet of international Sufi films, curated by Amrit Gangar showcases the work of eight reputed international directors who have made documentaries and docudramas on Sufism.
The six films, by eight well-known Canadian, Pakistani, Austrian, Turkish, Iranian and Indian directors, provide insights into the world of Sufism and its significance in the world today. They explain the importance of Sufi practices such as the use of music, Sema (whirling), ceremonious robes, philosophies and beliefs. Some of the films narrate incidents related to Sufi leaders as well as people who attempted to explore the world of Sufism |

About the poet and his poetry
Prolific author and poet, Octavio Paz published scores of works during his lifetime, many of which are translated into other languages. His early poetry was influenced by Marxism, surrealism, existentialism as well as religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism His poem,
Piedra Del Sol (Sunstone) written in 1957, was praised as a "magnificent" example of surrealist poetry in the presentation speech of his Nobel Prize. His later poetry dealt with love and eroticism, the nature of time, and Buddhism.
He also wrote poetry about his other passion, modern painting. |
